As a therapist,
I have got good news.
You are a hardworking millennial who would much rather be feeling something than feeling nothing at all. Do you ever wish you could figure out what is wrong so that getting up in the morning and going about your day is effortless and, dare I say it, even...fun?
People definitely count on you, but sometimes you don't feel as though you belong, or that people really know you. 🙈 Sometimes it feels overwhelming. Other times, it feels like you are running on auto-pilot and just going through the motions. Do you ever wish you could actually like yourself? Is that even possible? 🫠
👋🏼 I am Lan Nguyen (like Disney's Mulan without the "mu" — "Win"), and I come alongside Asian American clients who try really hard to feel good enough but just don't ever get there. Sigh... It's never enough, is it? 🥲
Like soooo many of my clients, I am a child of immigrants and first generation American born (No surprise here if my last name didn't give it away— I'm Vietnamese American!). My usual clients are often driven by their self-critical, perfectionistic, and people pleasing tendencies — no one has higher standards than the ones they have for themselves, which inevitably leads to burnout, overthinking, and worthlessness.
When their bodies break down and symptoms become too chaotic to ignore, my clients usually lack the ability to understand themselves, let alone express their emotions and describe what they want or need. Heck, they might even feel as though they are invisible or voiceless: unseen, unheard, unloved 🔇
Unfortunately, it's no surprise that my empathetic clients often find themselves feeling stuck or trapped in unfulfilling or toxic relationships. These relationships span the range from loveless marriages, exhausting boyfriend/girlfriend relationships or partnerships, or dysfunctional (even abusive) family members dynamics to toxic workplace environments and relationships.
Life is already tough as it is. So, if you're done with being the victim, with self-doubt and self-sabotaging, then look no further!— I equip my clients with the knowledge, skills, and tools so they can grow in self-awareness, bringing victory, hope, and freedom back into their lives. 🙌🏼 Then, they can heal deeply and break free from the limiting habits of second-guessing, avoiding, overthinking, and procrastinating.
Like so many other mental health professionals, I have the great honor and privilege of supporting many, many clients on their journeys to heal, recover, and reclaim their lives. ✨ It has been fulfilling to see my painful past life lessons be transformed into another person's progress and pathway to breaking cycles of intergenerational trauma.
Because I've been there myself, I empathize with your experience of just how intimidating and scary it is to finally open up— some times it seems less risky to try to white-knuckle, strive, and scrape together moments of peace on your own. But you deserve to be heard! 🗣️ May these therapy sessions be a warm, welcoming space where you feel safe to process the hurts of your past and present and anxieties about the future. I understand it is scary to open up— sometimes it seems less risky to try to white-knuckle, strive, and scrape together moments of peace on your own. But you deserve to be heard! 🗣️
And you do not have to heal alone. I understand that, at the end of the day, we are all humans trying to make sense of the cards we have been dealt. Together, we can make it a winning hand. 🃏🎴
So, are you ready to heal? Ready to live more confidently with less fear?
