Relationships, Attachment, & Codependency

Why are relationships so difficult?

Whether it be friendships, coworkers, parents, siblings, partners, or acquaintances, navigating relationships is tough! There is so much risk involved for being misunderstood, for triggering conflicts, hurting others, or for getting hurt!

Do any of the following statements sound familiar?

  • "I cannot stand to be around family— they are so judgmental and negative. I really need a legit excuse like work to get out of that family function..."
  • "My mother treats me as if I am still a child! It is SO annoying and invalidating. She babies me and does stuff for me that I did not ask for..." 🙄
  • "My dad is always criticizing me and putting me down. I avoid being around him so there are not as many opportunities for his words to hurt me."
  • "I wish I had people in my life who could comfort me through the hard times. It is so hard to trust people and people around me seem so cold and distant."
  • "No one really knows the real me. If they really got to know me, then they would probably leave me... I do not think they really like me all that much..."
  • "It feels like my partner and I are just roommates. We barely interact. There is no romance. I do not feel connected to him. He is just so busy with work."
  • "My siblings and I are basically estranged. After one blowout argument, we just stopped talking to each other. I get sad thinking about them sometimes."
  • "I really want to fit in at work, but I think we barely have anything in common. My coworkers seem to get along fine. I feel like the odd one out!"
  • "Is there something wrong with me? Why am I still single? Everyone else seems to be happily dating and I keep landing these lame, disappointing dates." 😩

Relationships of all types are hard work! If any of these statements resonate with you, then you're in good company. My clients and I have definitely thought or said similar statements!

Maybe you know about communication styles or attachment styles. Or maybe you have heard about childhood trauma or codependency. Even so, there are so countless reasons why relationships can be so challenging to make, keep, and maintain. People are confusing. Words are often lost in translation (and maybe there are very real language barriers!).

If you are looking to finally set and enforce boundaries with difficult family members, limit contact with toxic friends, and/or attract healthy dates, then you are in the right place.

Maybe you find yourself in unsatisfying or abusive relationships with partners, or maybe you need help determining if the current significant other is worth all the struggle. Maybe you are hoping to grow stronger in the areas of knowing what your feelings and your needs are and communicating them in productive ways. I can help!

I have helped so many of my clients grieve broken dreams of more fulfilling and close-knit families, challenge the status quo of intergenerational trauma, and begin using their most authentic voice to express their desires and needs! You can be heard too! Get relationship help today!

Ready to finally feel heard?

Feeling heard does not have to be a luxury or a tall order. Maybe with some support and guidance, you can muster up the strength to speak up and be heard today!

I can help equip you with the tools, strategies, and guidance you need to take your communication and relationships to the next level.

Great relationships—the masters—are built on respect, empathy, and a profound understanding of each other. Relationships don’t last without talk, even for the strong and silent type.
